1) The color of the sticks should range from light pink to pinkish-red.
2) Crab sticks should be smooth and elastic. So that when you start to slice them, they should not disintegrate.
3) Choose a safely packed package that is not scratched or battered. There must be a minimum amount of frost in it to make sure that it has not spent a long time in the freezer.

• Fun fact: A “crab stick” has no crabs. In Japanese, crab sticks are called “surimi,” which actually means “ground meat.”

Crab Salad Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 package crab sticks
  • 2 cucumbers shredded into thin slices
  • 1 carrot shredded into thin slices
  • A few leaves Iceberg lettuce



  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil


Preparation Method

  1. Use your hands to peel the crab sticks into thin strips.
  2. Add crab sticks into a large bowl along with the cucumber, carrot, and lettuce. Toss well.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil.
  4. Pour the dressing over the salad, and toss to coat evenly
