Chicken Pie Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 pack puff pastry
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 250g mushrooms
  • 4 chicken breasts cubed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 Bay leaves
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 chicken broth cube
  • Water

 

Preparation Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter, then sauté the onions and mushrooms until they wilt. Add chicken cubes, bay leaves, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Cook on medium heat until chicken is done.
  3. Add the flour to the mixture while gently stirring to make sure all chicken pieces are evenly coated. Then pour the milk and add the chicken broth cube
  4. Add water if mixture is too thick
  5. Grease a pan and layer 2/3 of the puff pastry as the base of the pie. Pour the filling on top of the base. Then roll the remaining 1/3 of the puff pastry to make an even cover for the pie
  6. Brush a beaten egg on the pie to give it a nice glaze
  7. Bake for 40 minutes or until pie is golden brown
