Chicken Pie Recipe Ingredients
- 1 pack puff pastry
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 egg
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 250g mushrooms
- 4 chicken breasts cubed
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 Bay leaves
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 chicken broth cube
- Water
Preparation Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, then sauté the onions and mushrooms until they wilt. Add chicken cubes, bay leaves, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Cook on medium heat until chicken is done.
- Add the flour to the mixture while gently stirring to make sure all chicken pieces are evenly coated. Then pour the milk and add the chicken broth cube
- Add water if mixture is too thick
- Grease a pan and layer 2/3 of the puff pastry as the base of the pie. Pour the filling on top of the base. Then roll the remaining 1/3 of the puff pastry to make an even cover for the pie
- Brush a beaten egg on the pie to give it a nice glaze
- Bake for 40 minutes or until pie is golden brown
