Cheesy Broccoli and Chicken Pasta Recipe Ingredients
- 4 cups milk
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 500g dried penne pasta
- 350g broccoli, small florets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons flour
- ½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 200g cheddar cheese
- 4 boneless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation Method
- Heat olive oil in a pan, and cook chicken breasts with bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, salt and pepper and then cut into cubes
- Boil pasta as per package instructions
- In a saucepan, boil milk with garlic. Remove garlic and allow milk to cool
- Melt the butter in the saucepan, and then add the flour stirring to make a paste. Add the milk gradually whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to boil, while continuously stirring until sauce is thick and lump free
- Remove from heat, stir in the nutmeg and 2 tablespoons cheese, and combine with pasta, broccoli and chicken
- Transfer to an oven dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese on top. Bake at 200C for 30 to 40 minutes until cheese is golden brown
