Nations from different cultures have enjoyed fish and chips meals and portions worldwide since the seventeenth century! While your body does not produce omega-3 fatty acids, that are essential to keep your heart and brain healthy, you must get them from the food, such as, fish. Not underestimating potatoes that represents an important source of vitamin B6, potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus, and niacin.
Fish and Chips Ingredients
- 800g potatoes cut into 1.5cm thick slices
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 650g haddock or cod fillet
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons corn flour
- 1 egg white
- 125ml ice-cold sparkling water
- Oil for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation Method
- Deep fry the chips until golden brown and crisp
- Coat the fish with 1 tablespoon flour
- Mix the remaining flour, corn flour, baking powder, salt and pepper
- Add sparkling water and egg gently to the dry mixture and whisk until smooth
- Dip fish in the batter to coat and then deep fry in hot oil
- Serve hot with chips, a wedge of lemon and vinegar for the chips
